Adam Q. Bauer

Washington University School of Medicine, USA

Dr. Bauer received a PhD in Physics from Washington University in St. Louis. After graduating, he transitioned into the field of biomedical optics, and trained in the laboratory of Dr. Joseph Culver at WUSTL.

Dr. Bauer is currently an Associate Professor of Radiology and Biomedical Engineering at WUSTL where his lab develops novel functional optical neuroimaging hardware and software for translational neuroscience applications in mice. Major research directions include understanding functional network connectivity in healthy mice, how it evolves following focal ischemia, and endogenous mechanisms of repair after injury. Newer lines of research include examining how patterns of cortical activity correspond to behaviors, and understanding mechanisms through which the brain regulates its perfusion and energy utilization.
