Catherine Whitby is a colloid scientist based at the Massey University in New Zealand. Catherine graduated from the University of Melbourne with a PhD in surface chemistry. She held postdoctoral positions at the University of Hull and the University of Sydney. She completed an ARC Future Fellowship at the University of South Australia. Catherine then joined Massey University where she is now Associate Professor in Chemistry. At Massey she is leading research into the behaviour of proteins and colloidal particles at liquid interfaces using rheology and microscopy techniques. Recently she has focused on developing complex, particle-stabilised emulsions that can reconfigure after emulsification in response to external stimuli such as temperature.
